Meet Cristina Hurley, a metalsmith from Canton, MA.

She came across Dali Decals when a friend of hers bought her the “Retro Swirling Branch” as a gift when she opened her own metalsmith shop a little while back.

Cristina was kind enough to answer a few questions for us, and here’s what she had to say.

Where are you from originally?
I actually was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. My parents are musicians, and we moved to Bloomington, IN, when I was 2. We went back to Puerto Rico when I was 8, and I lived there until college. It was interesting to live in 2 very different cultures, and I got to be fluent in 2 languages.

Where do you live now?
I now live in Canton, MA, a town very close to both Boston and Providence. I get to visit both regularly, but my shop is in Canton, and that’s where I spend most of my time.

Children, brothers/sisters, significant other?
I live with my husband, and we have a daughter. I have an older sister, and 2 younger half sisters. My mom lives in Canton very near to us, as do my husband’s parents.

Any pets?
Yes, a beta fish named Phoenix, but most of the time I just call him Fishy!

Occupation?
Being a metalsmith is my passion, and I have been in the field since I was 17 years old. I work in mostly silver and design, and I make my own line of jewelry. The decals I have are installed in my shop.

Favorite food?
I can’t tell you how many foods I love! I am a foodie. If I had to choose from only a few things to eat forever, I think it would be bread and cheese. A bonus along with it would be a nice glass of red wine!

Favorite TV show?
I actually don’t watch too much TV… But my husband really likes Dual Survival. I think it’s called that, and when he watches it I get sucked in.

Sports, education, special interests/hobbies?
I am completely addicted to kenpo karate, it’s my third favorite thing to do. #1 is having fun with my family, #2 is jewelry making and #3 is kenpo.

What do you love most about your Retro Swirling Branch?
I love the way the decals add something special and unique to the over all feel of my shop. People love it and complement it when they come in. It is the first thing you see right when you walk into the shop.

If you could be reincarnated as any animal, what would you be?
Oh gosh, I guess it would be a dolphin, or some kind of marine animal. Before finding my passion, I wanted to be a marine biologist. I love the ocean and all of its creatures.

If you hit the lottery, what would you do with the winnings?
I would take a trip around the world. I have not traveled much, and it is a dream I have. Now more than ever I would love to do it with my family.

How did you find out about Dali Decals?
My friend Koryn mentioned them to me. She wanted to give me a special gift for my shop, which I just recently opened, and suggested I choose a decal. I did, and I just love it.

What do people say when they see your decals on your walls?
People often assume I painted it, but then I give them the 411 about Dali Decals. People are always intrigued.

Have you recommended Dali Decals to anyone? Who?
Oh yes, many people, even strangers that come into the shop.

What decal are you most interested in getting next?
I would love to get some kind of tree to put on my back wall in the shop. I am planning on painting it a bright color and then adding the decal.

What is your favorite thing about Dali Decals?
Oh my, what’s not to like!? They are pretty, you get endless variety to choose from, and if you want to change it, you just remove it and put up something else!
